Wedgey certainly is cute. However, keep in mind to only use this on eggs or other very soft food items. It is a little hard to line the wires up appropriately. For the price, this is a good piece of equipment and a whimsical addition to any kitchen.

Kyocera Wide Julienne Slicer, Black Review

With this you get professional thin (amazon description says 1/8" but the one that arrived was 1/10" or 0.1" compared to 0.09" for the regular julienne slicer, I don't think that makes it much different to advertise this product as giving you a "wide" julienne... the size difference is so minute that you probably won't be able to tell) julienne cuts easily and fast! It is amazing.
The finger protector is not perfect but works fine when the vegetable gets to about 2 inches high or less. Obviously, it will leave about a 1/3 inch stump you'll have to either cut yourself or use it for another time. I say this because the julienne pieces are so beautifully uniform that you'd probably want to not mix anything else :)

What's great about this product is that the blade is made from ceramic with some kind of high tech diamond sharpened technology and it sure is sharp! And they don't rust or corrode and they advertise that it stays sharp 10 times longer than steel blades.

Highly recommend! My only regret is that I did not get the slicer together, I'm going to get the double-sided slicer, for vegetables like onions and peppers which can't be julienned.

I think I could make great hashbrown with this stuff in no time!!!

Kyocera Wide Julienne Slicer, Green Review

I have been using this product for a few years now. It is a very simple kitchen tool that does the job well enough in many situations. It julianne slices ginger, cucumber, carrot, and a lot of other things, especially for those that are used in bulk quantity or only for flavor. For example, when I make ginger-infused dry vermouth, I can use less ginger and still extract ginger flavor fully and quickly by julienne slicing ginger. If I'm slicing ginger by hand, I'd not bother julienne slicing and use more sliced ginger and infuse a bit longer. But this thing is handy in a situation like this. (Julienne sliced ginger is easy to remove by straining.)

For salad and garnish, I would still slice them by hand. The cut surfaces do not look as pretty compared to the results I can get easily using a very sharp vegetable knife (which is generally true for a lot of cutting tools of this type). The advantage of this tool is speed and simplicity. Again, I would not use this thing to make garnish, unless I'm cooking for a large party. But then a better option is a professional quality mandoline with a proper blade.

Among a few other good options for julienne slicing, I still rate it 4 stars because it is simple, easy to use, quick to wash and store away. Professional grade mandoline would require more work to set up and clean up. Hand cutting would require clean cutting board space. This tool requires not much more than two hands to work with.

Benriner Cook Help Spiral Vegatable Slicer Review

I wish I could reverse my rating of this device from one star to 5 but I am not able to- please keep in mind that I no longer want to rate this 1 star when you read this review.

At first, I bought this product and got nothing but frustration from it.Usually my entire family can figure out new methods and ways to use things, even if hardly anyone else can figure it out.

I had given up.

I had gotten nothing but frustration with the Benriner Cook Help, so I wrote a review of it expressing it as such.

After writing the review, I approached the Benriner as someone who never saw it before and I started experimenting.

My problems had been due to miscommunication on how to use this unit.There is not a whole lot out there about the Benriner Cook Help, so I was depending on the few directions out there, and none of them worked.

Here is what I figured out:

Although it is often told that you can make angel hair noodles from zucchini, I was always told that you have to use the smallest blades to do this.That is not true.

The key to using this device is that the softer the vegetable, the larger the blade attachment that you need to use.

The result is to have very long spaghetti style noodles just like you would cook, but they are raw.Then you made raw tomato sauce by processing tomatoes, herbs, and veggies and use it over top.

I have not been able to get carrots to work with this yet, but I have been working most intently with zucchini because that was my biggest goal in using this device.

However, I have found that if you apply pretty solid heavy pressure on the unit with one hand and the handle while you crank it with the other, I can get most of the zucchini to spiral out in perfect noodles.My family loves it and I could not be more thrilled.

At first, I was using the smallest blades for things- but they would not work, and I got frustrated.

If you have hard seeds in the vegetables, you will also find that they will clog up the blade area in any size and make it so you can not spiralize as well.

If you work with it and learn what size works for what- you can get a lot of excellent performance from the Benriner Cook Help.

Lastly, take the blades out BEFORE you wash it, and it will clean up very easily.

I regret that I can not reverse my previous rating, but at least I got another chance to do a follow up review to let you know the update about what I have discovered!

Rada Cutlery Tomato Slicer Knife, Made in USA, Aluminum Handle Review

These are truly very sharp, good working knives. I was so happy with the tomato knife that I bought a 2nd one, the steak knife set, and the carving knife.Love them all, except: Just be aware that (now that I've had them for several months) the handles are brushed aluminum which gives a good offsetting weight in the hand, however, the shiny silver color turns dingey gray.If you don't mind that-especially bec now they don't match the silver color of the blade, then they are a great buy.I would give 5 stars if they didn't discolor.NOTE: I NEVER ONCE PUT THEM IN THE DISHWASHER.

Adjustable Cheese Slicer Review

I wanted something high quality & serious, not a piece of junk with plastic parts. I'm happy with it. It seems like a sturdy, high quality tool. There are no plastic parts and no weird, funky modern styling. It looks classic. That's how I like it. It looks much more beautiful in person than in the picture. The handle is a lovely chrome. The roller is a nice looking aluminum roller. It is held in place by two large brass screws with thumb wheels. I like the brass very much. The wire is tight and strong. It is held in place by two small screws and two brass nuts. It cuts cheese nicely. You can adjust it from very thin slices up to approximately 3/16" thick. That should be thick enough for most people. If you want it thicker you might as well just use a knife. I think cheese slicers primarily exist so you can cut thin slices of cheese. It comes with an extra wire. I am happy with it. I think it's a good value for $9. Easily affordable. I don't want to just live. I want to live in style! This cheese slicer helps me do that. I think it would make a good gift due to the nice quality. I generally buy the best kitchen appliances and implements that I can find.

Zyliss Palm-Held Pizza Slicer, Red Review

The Zyliss Palm Held Pizza cutter is hard to fault. It's inexpensive, safe to use, easy to clean and just works without any strain. I can't find any reason to downgrade it from 5 stars. Check out the video to see how easy it disassembles for cleaning. It's longevity is the only unknown...looks plenty sturdy, though. The blade is sharp enough for tough crust, but not so sharpas to be dangerous when removing. One note: I was surprised how large this cutter is. My extra large hands make it appear smaller in the video. It's actually over 5-1/4" across the cover, and the blade is nearly 4" in diameter.

UPDATE: The hinge broke on this cutter while opening to wash. I still love the design. Maybe they could strengthen the hinge.

Aroma AMN-100 Electric Mandolin Slicer Review

I purchased this item not long ago to slice veggies and meats for stir-frys and other asian dishes.. To my supprise I've found myself using it more and more for everyday things as well.. To date its sliced carrots, celery, onions, mushrooms, radishes, bell peppers, potatoes, jalapeno peppers, and most of all cucumbers and zuccini..Its done them all in record time and with no fuss or mess..As far as grating goes, I've used it for parmesan cheese, Daikon (Japanese radish) and fresh ginger root all very easily..It's very easy to clean and easy to use.I highly recommend this product for those who do more than an occasional slice.

I've recently learned thorough other sources that there is a french fry blade thats also available for this item but not offered by Aroma.. (too bad) :(

Norpro Big Mouth Chopper, Slicer Review

I purchased the "As Seen on TV" version of this item and loved it to death however after around 5 weeks of daily use it shattered when cutting a onion. Unable to live with out it, I checked Amazon to buy another one when I noticed this product It appeared a lot stronger. I have since used this item for 5 weeks and it still works great , it is more durable and easy to clean, with the cleaning tool. The only reason I give it 4 stars is because of the size of the cutting area I wish the hole was 50% bigger.

Bagelpod Bagel Slicer Red Black Color Combination Review
